Sunderland Baker, PhD

Sunderland Baker has been part of the NERD-CO lab since 2020. He completed his undergraduate degree in public health science from Colorado College in 2022, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Biobehavioral Health at Penn State University (expected graduation: 2028). His present work a explores the use of neuroimaging tools for identifying structural and functional correlates, and behavioral linkages of alcohol/substance use disorders and child maltreatment. As part of NERD-CO, his work herein focuses on utilizing computer-based applications (e.g., deep learning, signal processing) to optimize deep brain stimulation treatment outcomes for Parkinson's disease. Outside of academics, Sunderland tries to travel as much as possible to marvel over architecture and museums, and enjoys wandering city blocks or local trails. Fun fact, Sunderland is a triplet.
